William Wong is a Paediatric Nephrologist who sees children with kidney disorders. He also works at Starship Children’s Hospital, where he is the head of department for Paediatric Nephrology.
William obtained his initial medical qualification from the University of Otago School of Medicine in 1979, completing his paediatric training in 1992. His subspecialty training in paediatric nephrology continued at the Women and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide, Australia. This was followed by further training in the Department of Paediatric Nephrology, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UK. William then returned back to New Zealand to take up a position as a Paediatric Nephrologist at Starship Children’s Hospital.
William’s Specialists Interests
William’s specialty interests include childhood hypertension, antenatal renal dilatation/hydronephrosis, urinary tract infections and bladder reflux, nephrotic syndrome, undifferentiated haematuria and proteinuria and glomerulonephritis.
He also has a strong research and teaching interests, having published many articles in medical journals in the field of paediatric nephrology.

In his spare time William enjoys walking as well as electronics such as pulling apart computers to make them work faster.

Our consultants only accept patients who have been referred by their GP or another medical professionals. Self-referrals are not accepted, unless by prior approval by the consultant and only provided attendance at the clinic can be guaranteed.
